As a teenager I had a very thick head of hair, however I first started noticing my hair thinning at the age of 18 and I was soon shedding hair at a fairly quick rate, constantly noticing hairs falling on to my clothes, on my pillow, in the shower etc. I am now 20 and I have done a fair amount of research over the past two years and I constantly read that the hair on the back and sides of the head should not be susceptible to hair loss. While my hair has thinned on the crown and my hair line has receded as is 'normal', I have also had a significant amount of hair loss in the sides and the back of my head, strangely with the left hand side suffering a lot more loss than the right. In fact I would say that these areas are probably the worst, running my fingers through the hair at the back and sides of my head always seems to produce a 4 or 5 hairs in my hand. Even a gentle tug on my sideburns produces a couple of hairs. I may be deluding myself in the hope that my hair loss can be cured, but does anyone know if this is normal?
Thanks
