Hi Faust,
The fact that hair loss is a side effect of Minoxidil is not only ironic, but it is accurate. In any case Minoxidil only works for about 50% of men who use it and about 15% show a real benefit of stronger hair.
I cannot remember whether you said what strength minoxidil you were using but it could be that you are using a 2% solution which is not sufficiently strong for men, and what you are seeing is your hair loss continuing rather than a side effect of minoxidil.
Generally if you are using any pharmaceutical preparation and matters are getting worse, the common sense advice is to discontinue use.
The manufacturers of Minoxidil do state that it doesn't work for everyone, so you are best to try something else and keep trying different products until you find something that works for you.
On (no links please) it has been suggested that you try a succession of hair loss products until you find the one that works for you. They also say that a product might only work for you for a year or two, and then the hair loss may just start up again. If this happens to you, then don't give in, try another product until you find another one that works. After a couple of years that might not work for you any more, BUT, if you go back to the original product, that might work again so you can cycle through products.
Hair loss is traumatic, but don't give in, but sadly with regarding to hair loss products, there is not yet a 'one-size-fits-all' treatment.
